Yanta Overalls with our Fabric Buttons

Yanta Overalls with our Fabric Buttons

I made the Yanta Overalls by Helen's Closet and I love how they turned out!     I used our fabric buttons in Tulip for the straps. The shank style of these buttons make them perfect for overalls. They also washed up just fine in the washing machine on a cold cycle.    Check out our new buttons in the shop!   Another great pattern by Helen's Closet. I did have a little trouble sewing the back encasement of the straps. There's a lot of fabric there and you need to be nimble with your fingers. I imagine this will come together easier on...

NEW | Fabric Covered Buttons!

Yay! - Fabric Covered Buttons!       These buttons have a shank backing which means there are no sewing holes on the top of the button, but a metal loop on the back. This allows the button to sit atop your fabric.    In staying true to our mission of creating...

The Karen Stevens Pouch - A Kit!

A few years ago Karen released her clever pattern, Modern Japanese Rice Pouch.   A modern take on the Japanese Komebukuro, a traditional pouch used in Japan to carry rice offerings to the temple during religious ceremonies, or to hold gifts destined for a close friend or relative. Komebukuro bags were hand...

Introducing Verbena

Introducing Verbena

Introducing Verbena! A two color panel print, inspired by the hardy perennial Verbena Bonariensis and my current obsession with making my own clothes.  I'm fascinated by how print affects a garment. My new sewing hobby has me paying more attention to line weight, positive and negative space, and color combinations when it comes to...

Purple and Greys - The Karen Stevens Pouch Kit

I’m really excited these kits have been a hit in the shop. (Though of course they are because Karen Stevens is a master at her craft!) They’re really, really fun for me to put together. This next batch of kits I made in grey and purple color stories.  The purple color...

New Colors, New Prints!

This new collection of colorways and prints has us ready to make all the things for the cooler season. We're thinking long tunics under chunky sweaters, table runners and napkins for festive gatherings, and maybe a few throw pillows here and there. :) For our newest design, I was inspired...

How to style small artworks in your home

I've been painting with watercolors a lot lately. My favorite thing to do is work up layers of color. So when I was asked recently to participate in a portfolio exchange, I thought I would try making a screenprint inspired by this sketch I posted on Instagram.  Here are some...

February Print of the Month

February Print of the Month

The Print of the Month for February is this Red-Bellied Woodpecker. We're seeing loads of these guys in our front garden this time of year. We have two suet feeders in the chaste tree and if I leave the curtain open, I can usually sneak up on them feeding throughout...

A new print series for 2017

Last July, I started a new series for the remainder of the year, where I designed a monthly tea towel. The goal was to illustrate what makes each month special to me and to start a monthly practice. This year, I'm changing up the series a bit, and doing my...

Ode to September

September is one of my favorite months. I love planning what seeds to plant in the garden for fall, while still admiring those late summer blooms. I like the cooler mornings and less sticky afternoons. This little painting is my Ode to September. That's my ideal box of greens coming...
